Life @ Transit Hostel

Hello guys am back.Well college reopened, and as i was accustomed to see new faces for the past 2 years.....this is year was no different...but this time i wanted to write something for the 1st years(facha), probably a word of caution or a piece of advice.So here is my new post sharing some experiences and  reviving gr8 old memories of my stay in hostel in 1st year.This is how it goes........

As soon as I got to know that I got a seat in DCE, my first thought was how will my hostel look like???? How many seater room ???? Well i didn’t get answers to any of these questions until i got the hostel and visited.

On the ground floor we have this hostel office, i said very enthusiastically “How many seaters Sir????? The reply i get “ Beta five seater.........!! Even he could see the dispair on my face.

Well why am talking about this is because after my stay in the hostel for few months i realised that its a blessing in disguise !!!

As a first year who is out of his home for the first time and who is accustomed to having 4-5 people around, this is the perfect scenario.

The rooms are so designed or whatever was the purpose for their design, we at transit hostel were a BIG family (am talking about 2^nd floor inmates, never interacted much with 1^st floor inmates). If ever  home cooked food would come for me, the news used to spread like a fire, and the next scene is KUMBH KA MELA in my room.

Be it celebrating birthdays (yes we even used to cut cake Guys!!!), playing games, watching Matches late night in common room or group studies for the Exams.

Well i will share a common scene during exams

Inmate 1(shouting) : Bhai please, keep quite, let me study.

Inmate 2(with plugged in headphones) : 1^st rule of thermodynamics is.......... 1^st rule of thermodynamics is......... 1^st rule of thermodynamics is......... 1^st rule of thermodynamics is........(for the 100^th time in an hour).!!!!

Inmate 3 (after acquiring sufficient sleep ) : Bhai Syallabus bata de, ab toh late night padai karunga.

Inmate 2: Bhai taking a power nap, wake me up please(yes your right he meant a 15 minutes nap and then he gets up after few hours).

Inmate 5: Guys bahut ho gaya, lets analyise the paper and study accordingly, its hell lot of syllabus.

Inmate 6: chal na yaar, leave it lets take a break, lets go for snacks.

Inmate 7 (Frustrated after studying ) : bhai bas itna bata de, what all should i go through to pass the exam.

Yes I deliberately missed out inmate 4 because he couldn’t take this and has gone home.

This is the beauty of the place, people from different backgrounds, different tastes but each one seeking help from others, helping others and struggling to score well in exams.

While you stay in the hostel keep this in mind. :D

Never ever visit hostel office in shorts or capris( girls doesn’t have this kind of restriction!!!).

There is this madam in hostel office, although she is very sweet and helpful but if she gets a glimpse of you in shorts or capris, then even God can’t save you dear.

 

I cherished my stay at transit hostel, made most of friends during my sojourn there, my closest of friends till day are from transit hostel...:-)

Before i sign off i want to share a advice that i got in one of the seminars that i attended in my first year,

“College is the best place to fail, make the most of it.”

And as i finish my new post, i would like to share my location.

My Location: My room in senior boys hostel,with my friends(the same friends i made in transit hostel) enjoying life to the fullest,and guess what they are indulged in ????

 best past time (they know,ie. playing cards). :-) :-) :-)

i love my friends and what can be a better occasion then Friendship DaY(i know its past 12, but itna chaltha hai...:P)

A Day at Sheraton.

Yes your right my friend am talking about the same SHERTATON hotel in saket.As i entered the hotel (or i would like to call it a palace),i was mesmerized, my eyes were wide open.It was so huge and awe- inspiring.

Before i write more on the beauty of sheraton ,let me tell you what was the purpose of my visit.
On 10th July ISB organised an info sessions to reach out to all prospective students and it was an opportunity for the students to meet ISB alumini.
I was already late for the session (coz it rained the very same day, and after this incident i have started believing in Murphy's Rule i.e when u least want that particular thing to happen it will definitely happen),so i only got a glimpse of it.
I reached the seminar hall 10 mins late and  was shocked to see the whole hall occupied by people from various age groups,what was more shocking is that at 10am,that too on sunday morning  Delhiites are on time.
Anyway i took my seat and started to listen, rather show interest.I guess it was some guy named Menon, Placement Incharge who was talking about the placements and the grandness of the institution(what else one  expect !!!!),then came a FAt guy, he reminded me of a south indian hero :P He went through the admission process. DOs and Donts etc.

The interesting part of the session was Q&A round.Before the this round was about to start it was strictly mentioned that no personnel questions will be asked.But as we all know people try to show smartness.The very first person started off with introducing himself,and then he asked a very general ques,but then he was trying very hard to add a personnel ques....how can ISB staff allow that to happen before that guy cud complete his personnel ques one of the staff shouted " my friend we will discuss that offline....."
Then some questions on Job experience and some interesting questions on Recommendations.
As a matter of fact for applying to any of the B- Schools one require to submit two recommendations from people who they are working with.Well it seems so simple,you may wonder why people were so confused on this.Let me explain there was this guy who runs a family business, now what?????
the other guy teaches in coaching institutes.......????should he take recommendations from students????
Don't laugh my friend thats what he was asked to do.
One of the Journalism student stood up to share her fear....."Sir/mam as we all know we compete with engineers or ppl with strong mathematics background.....what are the chances of ppl like us getting through.....???....""
Well i could see a mischievous smile on some of the faces......a moment to be proud of.......but that was short lived....one of the lady staff replied "My friend be assured you have a better chance......"
I still have doubts what was the real motive behind that answer...!!!!
There was this person who was boasting about handling lakhs of cash and his ability to handle large scale events,he was trying his luck for differed admission  but his only motive was to boast  about the Post he was holding and his College. :D  

Even i had a question.......and was waiting for my chance.....but before i cud ask , one of the final year student got the chance.He was answered by Menon, and it was a honest reply.After that moment i was very clear what to do, how to go about my future.(Although i regret that i didn't speak) but i made up for it.

After the Q&A session we were given the opportunity to speak to the alumni one-on-one.This guy was  from Andhra Pradesh,when i joined him he was already surrounded by so many people,most of them from the age group of 30-40 years.One of the guy was i think 60+, and i was wondering does he really want to do an MBA or just there to enjoy the snacks and tea in Sheraton (BTW we were served snacks and tea after the session).
anyway i was there in that group listening to boring marketing and finance issues that people discussed,as i was the youngest of all i was not given a chance, but i decided i won't leave the hotel before i clear my issues.As we do in a GD, wait for a chance to speak,wait for someone to stop to take breath. Thats what i did......!!!I was left with no other option my friends........He was charismatic, he didn' seems aged but he had 10years of job ex.
He replied to questions very honestly,showing interest.
This experience was indeed Inspiring.

I would like to thank MY FRIEND, as she was the reason for me to attend this seminar  :-)

Whats in the name?????

Hey friends am writing this post to throw some light on my blog's name 'REDZ VIDA'.There is small story. Within 24hours of creation of my Blog one of  my friend said "Dude name of your Blog is too long and its sounding more of a title to a post than the name of a Blog :D(and gave my first post that name.....:P)

Now i can't deny that can I???? So i decided to change the name and i wanted the new name in similar lines. somehow i have this affinity to Spanish language(Probably coz after my 2nd year i planned to learn Spanish, even paid the fee but coz of unavoidable circumstances couldn't pursue it. And so with the help of Dear Google Translator i found the new name to my Blog.
BTW Vida means life...:-)

The other reason is Manchester United's Captain Nemanja Vidic's Nickname is also VIDA......:P

P.S.As i promised in my first post i will talk about my another inspiration, and as most of you can make out this is definitely not that. I wrote this post coz lot of my friends already asked me what does Vida mean????
why this name???? etc.

New Chapter in Redz life

As i sit down to write my first post on my first ever blog,i remember the days when i used to think how can someone write a blog, rather let me say the truth,how can i ever write a blog???and i said to myself numerous times 'Not My Cup of Tea' dude!!!!

I just realized that all U need is a small inspiration,and you are on your path to Success(and  I Promise to Inspire others in whatever they want to do in life).I made few mistakes in life,and the process of realization was never a Cake Walk for me(Am glad that It was not a cake walk!!!!).

Sometimes you learn the lessons of life the hard way.Am glad and thankful to all who supported me, believed in me and gave me a second chance.

With all the past learning and inspiration to achieve few milestones in life,more than anyone to prove myself,I start this Journey :-)
